NRICH at the Hay Festival
NRICH will be at the world-renowned Hay Festival again this year to run family workshops giving parents and children the opportunity to work together on engaging, creative and thought-provoking mathematical problem-solving activities.
Being resilient, curious, resourceful and collaborative are great characteristics which are also enormously important in mathematical development. Led by Charlie Gilderdale from NRICH and Alison Eves from the Royal Institution, the Hay Festival 'Being Mathematical' workshops will share some of their favourite problems selected from the RI Masterclass and NRICH collections.
The sessions will give parents/carers and children the opportunity to work together to discover, explore and strengthen their mathematical muscles. "There was a lovely atmosphere last year", commented Charlie Gilderdale. "In the same way that families might read books together, or go swimming, or cook or garden together, we hope that they'll enjoy doing some maths together too."
The NRICH/Ri workshops at the Hay Festival are taking place this year on Thursday 30 May 2019 at 10am for ages 8-11, 11.30 am for ages 11-13 and 4pm for ages 14+. For full details, see the Hay Festival website.
